Case Studies – Maintaining Openings at Swansea University

Bay Campus, one of two stunning campuses at Swansea University, is a state-of-the-art facility with direct access to the beach and the seafront promenade. It is home to the College of Engineering, the School of Management, and the Computational Foundry and has 2,000 student rooms of varying sizes.

Installation

Currently, there are over 20 record doors installed on the campus. record STA 20 sliding doors can be found on the main entrances to the Great Hall, Engineering College, School of Management and the library, to ensure the efficient flow and safe movement of large numbers of students, whilst complementing the overall look and style of the modern campus. record DFA 127 Swing Door Operators, which are almost silent in operation, have been fitted on other entrances to the Campus to automate new and existing doors quickly and economically.

Service

record has been the contracted provider for PPM and reactive servicing for all the automatic doors on the Bay Campus since 2015.  As part of our service offering, our engineers not only maintain doors properly to improve their condition and reliability but they also recommend solutions to any problems. In Swansea's case, being directly on the beach has led to many difficulties with sea salt corrosion affecting the doors.  Having looked at this tirelessly, our engineers have come up with a solution to weatherproof the operators to avoid unnecessary maintenance costs in the future.

Garry Barlow, Electrical Officer at the Bay Campus commented, "I'm impressed with the level of service we receive from record, their service engineers are professional, efficient and reliable. The Bay Campus is situated in a challenging environment, however, they will go out of their way to find ways to make our doors more robust and less susceptible to the elements, whilst ensuring they operate safely at all times".
