Technical Manager

Due to continued growth and high demand for its services, the company is now seeking to recruit a suitable candidate to join the technical team in our expanding group based at one of our UK sites.

At record uk, we design, manufacture, supply, install and service automatic swinging, sliding and revolving pedestrian doors throughout the UK.
 
Through acquisition and organic growth, we are proud to have become the UK market leader, with ambition to grow substantially from our current position. Our production facility and head office are located just outside Glasgow and from here we support a wide variety of customers including many Blue-Chip end-users, Main Contractors, Developers and specialist door companies.

Job Description

1) Manage the technical aspects of new product introduction into the record UK business.
2) Provide internal and external support on all technical aspects of our product offerings.
3) Deliver training to internal and external customers on all our product offerings.
4) Provide technical guidance at the customer design stage, and problem solving on existing designs.
5) Work with our affiliate companies to improve product quality.
6) Support industry associations in the review and writing of standards for the auto door industry.
 
Essential Criteria
 
• Comprehensive mechanical and electrical/ electronic knowledge in pedestrian automatic door systems, including powered revolving doors.
• ADSA accreditation to EN 16005 and BS 7036 1996 and BS 7036-0 2014
• CSCS
• Conversant with schematics, technical instructions and project CAD details.
• Good communication skills with all internal business colleagues and external customers.
• Training and mentoring with proven ability to develop skills and share experience
• Commercial awareness
• Proven ability to deliver in-house and field-based training and assist with all current and developing product offerings.
• Solutions driven with a can-do attitude and passion to enhance and expand knowledge, skills and experience.
• Be able to integrate with all technical enquiries
• Able to communicate with our design and manufacturing departments in the UK and Europe
• Eager and hungry to learn with a methodical and analytical approach to problem solving.
• Strong written communication skills
• Capable of establishing yourself as a respected expert in the UK automatic door industry, both to represent the interests of record and also to steer the overall technical direction of
  standards and practice in the UK, through working on ADSA Technical committees
• Capable of taking the technical lead on accident investigations and providing clear written technical evaluations to customers and legal teams
• Support of sales at quotation stage to ensure we guide customers toward solutions that are safe, deliverable and commercially viable for record UK.
 
Additional Information
 
Hours: 40 hours per week.

Holidays: 33 days

Approximately 5-10% travel required.

Salary: Negotiable – dependent on experience.  

Location: any record UK Office site
