With the implementation of DDA low energy automatic swing doors are the most widely chosen option for door automation. They are the ideal operator for either using with new doors or automating existing. Unlike the fully automatic door this operator is operated by using push pads and in the main is, by able bodied people, used as a normal manual door.
The push pads have disabled symbols and are installed at a height suitable for wheelchair users. Where there is no suitable wall fixing, push pads can be mounted on free standing posts fitted in a suitable area where they are not hazardous to walking traffic.
This option is the most cost effective way of having doors comply with the DDA. Where existing doors are fitted with swing operators a suitable finger guard should be fitted to the hinged stile as recommended in BS7036.
